The movie "Shawshank Redemption", directed by Frank Darabont, is about a man that goes by the name, Andy Dufresne, is put in prison after being accused of murdering his wife. This was an excellent movie, I have no idea what was wrong with the critics giving it a bad review, they might have had a bad taste for movies. This movie was directed beautifuly, The movie had a nice flow to it, The director did a great job showing the passage of time through the 20 years Andy has been in Shawshank. The acting was very well executed, it was believable and you had clear insight on the character's personality and emotions. I give two thumbs up for Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman for doing an excellent job with their characters. The characters within the movie each had a distinct personality and you could easily love or hate them in the end. The passage of time was very well done, you knew exactly when they would skip forward and it was easy to tell how many years has passed. In my opinion, the theme represents Hope because of the one scene were Andy Locked himself in the warden's office and played The opera song that was sung by some italian woman, and all the inmates within shawshank stopped all that they were doing and began listening to the music. I believe the song was meant to give hope and meaning to all the other inmates. And so with that said, i would give this movie 5 stars in my book, a movie that I will never forget.
